After the terrorist attacks of October 7, 2023, Kibbutz Nir Yitzhak, located near the Gaza border, was devastated and its entire community was evacuated to Eilat. In those first months, few spoke of returning.

As families began to consider going back, a project took shape: building a new playground, a space that would give children a reason to play outside again and families a place to gather.

The Association of Friends of Switzerland–Israel was the first to support the initiative. The Leticia & Eduardo Azar Foundation then joined the project through Diana and Nestor, members of the kibbutz, helping turn the idea into reality.

Today the playground is in use: children play there every day, parents meet around it, and the kibbutz slowly recovers its daily life.

For a community that had to leave everything behind, the playground represents something simple and powerful: the decision to return and to build a future in the same place.
