On June 24, two strong earthquakes struck Venezuela. In Caracas, the Hebraica, the city’s Jewish community center, opened its doors that same night and became an emergency shelter, housing 2,000 people, both members of the community and neighbors in need of a safe place.

In the wake of the recent earthquake, the Azar Foundation has undertaken significant efforts to support the Jewish community of Venezuela. By providing essential resources and assistance, the foundation aims to help rebuild and restore livelihoods affected by this natural disaster.

This initiative underscores the commitment of the Azar Foundation to stand in solidarity with vulnerable communities during times of crisis. Through collaboration and dedicated efforts, the foundation seeks to foster resilience and hope for a brighter future.

In the days that followed, the community organized meals, medical assistance, and temporary housing for those who could not return to their homes. Dozens of families lost their houses or are still waiting for repairs.

The Leticia & Eduardo Azar Foundation joined the international support effort with a financial contribution to help cover the most immediate needs: food, water, shelter, hygiene supplies, temporary housing, and direct assistance for affected families.

Organizations and communities from around the world have mobilized to support Caracas. The Foundation accompanies this effort as part of its commitment to being present where help is needed most.
