Leticia and Eduardo Azar shared a day of work with the participants of Tiferet, the group of senior citizens of La Fundación de Acción Social de Jabad, who carry out productive activities for charitable purposes.

Both Leticia and Eduardo were very excited to visit this project, which was born in July 2022 in Buenos Aires with the aim of empowering senior members in a stage of life in which they often seem to be forgotten.

The Azars participated in the group’s productive activities and had fun filling spice bags to donate. They chatted and shared a good time with the members, who attend the center twice a week, three hours a day.

The visit was attended by the coordinator of Tiferet, Jacqueline Lesznik, and the director of the Development Office of Chabad Lubavitch Argentina, Alejandro Altman, who were very happy to welcome Leticia and Eduardo Azar in this unique project.

“I feel very useful,” commented a participant who has been attending Tiferet since the birth of the project.

“I am happy to come and share moments with the group,” she added.

How the program works

Tiferet Zekeinim is a project of La Fundación de Acción Social de Jabad aimed at adults over 69 years of age, financially supported by the Leticia and Eduardo Azar Foundation.

Its main objective is to contribute to the empowerment of the elderly within the Argentine Jewish community. It functions as both a productive and study center.

The project began in July 2022 with 30 participants and currently has 320.

Participants attend the center twice a week for three hours a day, engaging in various productive activities. These activities include assembling first-aid kits, snack kits, mishloach manot, school supplies kits, bags of products for Pesach and Rosh Hashanah, tablecloths, card games, candle kits, Shabbat kits, accessories for girls, T-shirts, and flavor kits. Seniors receive an allowance for their work.

Everything produced is donated to schools, hospitals, social organizations, soup kitchens, and Jewish institutions.
