Recently, Yossi Swerdlov, CEO of the Leticia & Eduardo Azar Foundation, traveled to Tanzania with the primary mission of signing an agreement with local authorities and a water company. This agreement will secure a sustainable water supply for a village located just outside of Arusha, marking a crucial step toward improving the quality of life for the community.
Until now, the villagers have had to carry water from the river or a designated water point, making this initiative essential for their well-being.
However, the trip extended beyond the signing of the water agreement. During his visit, Swerdlov took the opportunity to visit the orphanages and schools that our Foundation has been actively supporting. At the orphanages, we have made significant contributions by sponsoring essential resources such as furniture, food, and fuel. In addition, we have covered the educational costs for several orphans, enabling them to attend private schools and receive quality education.
The Foundation’s involvement in local schools has been transformative. Our support includes the renovation of the school premises, the installation of electricity, and the continuous provision of meals to ensure that students can focus on their studies without worrying about basic needs. Swerdlov’s visit allowed him to witness firsthand the positive changes that have been made.
Another highlight of the trip was a visit to one of the homes our Foundation built in the village. These homes represent more than just shelter; they symbolize hope and a brighter future for families in need.
In addition to these efforts, our CEO had the privilege of meeting with the local Jewish community in Tanzania. This meeting provided a unique opportunity to connect, exchange ideas, and learn about the experiences and challenges faced by the Jewish community in the region, further reinforcing the Foundation’s commitment to supporting diverse communities around the world.
Reflecting on his experience, Swerdlov shared, “It was a great privilege to be able to represent the Leticia & Eduardo Azar Foundation on this amazing trip of bringing hope and life to the people of Tanzania. They are beautiful and wonderful people. Just being there and bringing them water, which is life, and being part of the launch was incredible. Seeing our ongoing projects and visiting the orphans and the school allowed me to witness firsthand the amazing work that has been accomplished and the impact it is having on thousands of lives.”
This visit reaffirms our Foundation’s dedication to creating sustainable, long-lasting improvements in the communities we serve. By addressing critical needs such as access to water, education, and housing, we continue to strive for a future where every individual has the opportunity to thrive.
